Architecture & Environmental
Design specialty was founded in 1986 and became a department
named "Environmental Design Department" in 1996. In
year 2004, based on its development, architecture design
pathway was added to this Specialty. Being approved
by the Academy, it was formally renamed "Architecture & Environmental
Design Department" .

| Graphic Design Department |
Graphic Design is one of the earliest founding
specialties
of Design College,GAFA, which dated back to the year 1953,and formally founded
in 1963.In the late 70s of 20th century, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art started
its modern design education reform from this department. In the mid80s, a group
of our young staffs set up "Whitehorse Advertising Studio", and lately
became "Whitehorse Advertising Company", which was leading the development
of creative industries around the Pearl Delta and became the highlight of Chinese
advertising development at that time. |

| Industrial Design Department |
Industrial Design specialty was founded
in 1980,converted from Ceramic Art Class under Art & Crafts
Department of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art. Along with
the graduation of our first graduates in 1984, we became
one of the first national academies that offer this course.
Being
approved by the Academy, Industrial Design specialty became today's Industrial
Design Department in 1996. |

| Fashion Design Department |
Fashion Design specialty was founded
in 1986 as a sub-branch under Department of Arts and
Crafts. Being approved by the Academy, "Fashion Design
Department" was founded in 1996, and had another new
specialty "Fashion Design & Engineering" in 2002.By
then, Fashion Design Department has expanded to a forefront
department that has a distinguished national reputation
and offers one of the
most diverse and comprehensive ranges of courses in fashion design education. |

| Digital Art & Design Department |
Digital Art & Design Department of
Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art covers hi-tech design areas
such as digital animation, digital image, computer game,
multimedia, interactive art, etc. Digital art design is
called the rising industry of the twenty-first century,
and because of its great potential, digital art design
will play an import role as a component of GDP.

| Integral Design Department |
Integral Design Department was founded
in 1999,originated from "Research Group on Theory of
Design" of Design College of Guangzhou Academy of Fine
Art.

| Art & Craft Design Department |
Art & Craft Design specialty has been
established for almost 5 decades, going through "pattern
program" during South China Art School since 1953, sub-branched
to Art & Craft department (1958), Lacquer painting
specialty(1970),decorative arts specialty (1984), Art & Craft
design specialty (1989), and was formally named "Art & Craft
Design Department" in 1996

| Textile Design Program |
Textile Design Program has a precursor, "pattern
program" of art & craft department in South China
Academy of Fine Art. When Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art
was founded in 1958, yarn-dyed specialty of art & craft
department has been set up then, which was one of the
earliest design specialties within the Academy. In 1997,
yarn-dyed specialty was merged
into Design College and became a program on textile
research and education, named "Textile Design Program".

| Furniture Design Program |
Furniture Design Program was a new specialty,
founded in 2004. In September 2005 it began its first
enrollment of undergraduate students.

| Foundation Department |
Foundation Design Program was founded in
1997, which was the earliest foundation design education
platform set up in Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art.

| Xiao Gang Kiln |
Xiaogang Kiln, named after its location,
was founded in 1958,which was converted from Ceramic
Specialty of Arts and Crafts Design Department, Guangzhou
Academy of Fine Arts. The full name of Xiaogang Kiln
is "Ceramic Research Center of Design College".
