Course Arrangement
1. 4-year BA(hons) Courses
Courses Mode: 1-3 system
The first year is supervised by the foundation sector of Design College. Courses include: Graphic Color Composing, Space and Form, Creative Expression, Sociology of Design, Aesthetic Psychology, Contemporary Art and Design, Information Technology, History of Design, etc.
The second to the forth year is supervised by our department. Courses are mostly done by special topic projects.
Courses are divided into 3 main module:
A. Foundation Courses, including:
Illustration, Computer Aided Design, Modeling,
Ergonomics, Principle and Method of furniture Design,
Form, Furniture Typology, Fundamental Technique
of Furniture Design, Drafting.
B. History and Theory Course, including:
Theory of Furniture, History of Architecture, Theory of Interior Design, Marketing, Systematology, Methodology of Design, Design Planning, Design Management, Consumer's Psychology, Ethology, Informatics, Laws and regulations, etc
C. Design Courses, including:.
Room and Furniture Design, lifestyle, New Lifestyle research and the Creation of Furniture Design, Tradition and Innovation, Commercial space Design, Industry-link Project, Graduation Design and Graduation Thesis (Integral Design).
After the 4 years' study, only the students finish all the subject and optional courses as request and get 60 points or better can graduate and be certificated; those who reach 75 grade in Graduation Project & Thesis will get honored BA Degree.
2. 3-year MA(hons) Courses
We pass on our MA (hons) courses in the way of one-to-one tutorial system and small-group discussion, by which enhance students' ability to do academic research in a self-managed way .Based on our present staff, we offer MA(hons) on Furniture Design.
Besides the public courses, students are required to finish 6 compulsory courses and 2 optional courses and get at least 60 points within their first and second years, and then they can enter the metaphase selection process. Passing the assessment and the approval of thesis topic selection, they can continue to their final project and thesis, and receive their MA(hons) until they got at least 75 grades in these 2 main courses.
